Joyce Wang

I am an emerging artist and illustrator based in Toronto and a recent graduate of OCAD University. My practice sits between illustration and fine art, using drawing as a way to explore interior worlds, memory, and emotional states through narrative imagery. Working primarily in ink on paper, I create carefully constructed scenes that combine recognizable figures with elements of fantasy. Organic forms and symbolic environments are used to externalize internal experiences, allowing emotion and psychological space to take visual form. Themes of care, vulnerability, and self-relation recur throughout the work, often expressed through quiet gestures. Through a balance of softness and structure, my work aims to hold tension gently, inviting viewers into intimate, contemplative spaces that feel both familiar and slightly otherworldly.
